Read on to learn about what inspires me.

Welcome to my website. My blog is where I'll share my thoughts with you about fabric selection, design choices, and what inspires me to quilt. Sometimes I'll even share a pattern.
For this first entry, I'd like to talk a little about what got me started in quilting. I've been a crocheter since I was 6 years old. I started collecting fabric in my early 20s. I remember going to Woolworth's on 34th Street in New York at lunchtime when I worked at my first "real" job, and they had tons of really cool fabrics that were not expensive at all. At that point, I didn't sew, but I knew that I wanted to learn to quilt some day. That was in the early 1990s. The red and white striped fabrics in the quilt pictured above were bought at that time.
I made my first quilt in 1999. My then-husband and I had gone to the beach with our daughter and determined that we really needed a large blanket to put down on the sand. So I picked a bunch of colorful, whimsical fabrics for the top and a bed sheet for the bottom (it was going on sand, after all, so I wanted it to be sturdy). I pieced that quilt by machine and used my grandmother's old perle cotton threads to tie it.
"Beach Quilt" stays in the back of my car all summer, just in case I need it. I also brought it to Hawaii in 2014 when we went to celebrate my birthday there.
